The Family Faith Program is a religious education program at the Church of St. Francis Xavier for students from pre-kindergarten through the 12th grade. The program includes post-confirmation classes, adult sessions, Children’s Liturgy of the Word, and the Family Faith Choir.

The families in the program worship together at the 9:00 a.m. Sunday Mass. After Mass, they gather at the Xavier High School library for a healthy snack, announcements, and prayer. The parents then take their children to their classrooms, where they may either stay with them or return to Xavier library to listen to a guest speaker. At 11:30 a.m., parents pick up their children in the classrooms.

Children can receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist after having completed two consecutive years in the program and are at least in second grade. They receive the Sacrament of Confirmation when they are at least in 7th grade, after having completed two consecutive years in the program.

Children Liturgy of the Word (CLOW)

At the Sunday 9:00 a.m. Mass, the presider invites children from 1st through 3rd grade to go with a liturgical catechist to the West Room. The presider invites children from 4th to 6th grade to go with a liturgical catechist to the Mary Chapel. The Liturgy of the Word is presented to them in a manner appropriate for their age.

On the first Sunday of the month, there is no CLOW because it’s Family Mass Sunday. Children sit on the step before the altar for an interactive homily with the presider. The Family Faith Choir sings at the Family Mass, and children and parents participate in the liturgy as lectors, Eucharistic ministers and hospitality ministers.

Children who have received First Communion can take part in the liturgy as altar servers. If your child is interested in becoming an altar server, please contact Gerry Moss at gerrymmoss@aol.com

Family Faith Choir

The Family Faith Choir is an inter-generational choir organized by the Family Faith Program in conjunction with Xavier Assistant Music Director Jacqueline Perez. It rehearses on Sundays in the Music Room from 11:40 a.m. to 12:40 p.m.

You do not have to be part of the Family Faith Program to be in this choir. All children, teenagers, young adults, adults, and seniors are welcome to participate.

If you’re interested in taking part in the Family Faith Choir, please contact Jacqueline Perez at jacquelinecperez@yahoo.com
